EASY AIR FRYER RADISHES

There are uses for radishes outside salads. Radishes cooked in an air fryer come out with an inside that is soft and an outside that is crispy and somewhat sweet. Radishes are a great low-carb substitute for roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes since baking eliminates the peppery sharpness that raw radishes are renowned for.

        INGREDIENT NOTES

The recipe card is at the bottom of this page and includes a complete list of ingredients and directions.

Fresh radishes should have brilliant red skin, few to no flaws, and no scratches while you are shopping for them. Save the radish greens, if they are still attached, for pesto, salad, curries, quiches, soups, and casseroles. Similar to how you would prepare chard or kale, you may also sauté, boil or blanch them.

Use high-quality extra-virgin olive oil for the greatest outcomes when using olive oil. In terms of flavor overall, it does make a difference. Safflower, sunflower, or avocado oil can also be used.

Onion and garlic powder: Dried spices will adhere to the veggies more effectively while cooking in an air fryer without burning. But if the garlic is fresh, you can

Parsley: When used as a garnish, parsley brings color and freshness. You may use oregano, basil, cilantro, or any other fresh herb of your choice in its place.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER RADISHES

The recipe card is at the bottom of this page and contains complete directions.

First things first: cut each radish in half after trimming the stem and root ends.

Set the air fryer to 400°F for frying. This step is optional, however, I find that preheating my air fryer for a few minutes helps the cooking times to be more uniform and consistent.

The radish halves should be well coated in olive oil, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper in a big basin.

        tossing it all together

        1. Place the seasoned radish halves in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

          Into the air fryer.
Air fry the radishes for 15-18 minutes. Give the basket a shake at the halfway point for an even crispness on all sides.

Air fry until tender, crisp and golden.

        1. Once cooked, serve your air fryer radishes hot with a garnish of fresh parsley.

        STORAGE & REHEATING

Follow this straightforward storage advice if you have leftover air fryer radishes:

Refrigerator: Air-fried radishes can be stored for up to 3–4 days in an airtight container.

Freezer: I do not advise freezing roasted radishes since the texture will be drastically altered after thawing.

Reheat: Place your radishes in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes, shaking halfway through.

        VARIATIONS

Radishes: You may experiment with radishes of other colors and kinds, such as pink, white, Daikon, Malaga, Helios, or watermelon radishes, in addition to using only red radishes.
Herbs: Add dried rosemary, oregano, thyme, parsley flakes, basil, or Italian mix to the radishes for a herbaceous flavor.
Parmesan cheese and garlic powder can be combined to create a cheesy garlic flavor.
Red pepper flakes, cayenne, chili powder, or Cajun seasoning can be added to the radishes for even more spiciness.

To prepare air fryer radish chips, slice the radishes into thin medallions.

                HELPFUL TIPS

Cut the radishes into equal-sized pieces if necessary. If some of your radishes are significantly larger than others, cut them into thirds or quarters.

Place the radish slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer to ensure that hot air can circulate around them for optimum crispness. This fits well in my 6-quart air fryer, but you might need to cook in two batches if yours is smaller.

Halfway through the air frying process, jiggle the basket to provide the most equal cooking. Radishes will become crispy on both sides as a result of this.

The cooking time for each brand and type of air fryer may be adjusted. The first time you prepare air fryer radishes, keep a close check on them after halfway. By doing this, you'll be able to cook them to perfection the following time.

                  • ENJOY!

                    SERVING SUGGESTIONS

The cooking time for each brand and type of air fryer may be adjusted. Before serving, sprinkle some lemon juice over the radishes. Alternatively, top with chopped chives and sour cream.

Choose meats like meatloaf, pork tenderloin, or flank steak to go with your radishes in the air fryer.

They go well with various side dishes like Irish Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Fried Rice, or Mushroom Pea Risotto. When making air fryer radishes for the first time, keep a close check on them beyond the halfway mark. By doing this, you'll be able to cook them to perfection the following time.

                    Ingredients

                    • 1 pound radishes stemmed, trimmed & halved (3 cups)
                    • 1 tablespoon olive oil extra virgin
                    • ½ teaspoon salt
                    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
                    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
                    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
                    • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, for garnish

                    Instructions

                    • Trim the stem and root ends and slice each radish in half.
                    • Preheat the air fryer to 400°
                    • In a large bowl, toss the radishes with the oil and seasonings (except parsley) to coat.
                    • Place radishes in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
                    • Air fry for 15-18 minutes, giving the basket a shake halfway through the cooking time.
                    • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
                    • Notes

                        • Cut the radishes evenly: If some of your radishes are quite a bit bigger than others, cut them into thirds or quarters to make sure the pieces are equal in size.
                        • Shake halfway: For the most even cook, shake the basket halfway through the air frying process. This will result in crispy radishes on all sides.
                        • Adjust the time: All air fryer brands and models vary slightly in their cooking times. Keep a close eye on them after the halfway point the first time you make air fryer radishes. This way, you’ll know exactly how long to cook them the next time.
                      Storage & Reheating
                        • Fridge: Keep air-fried radishes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
                        • Freezer: I don’t recommend freezing roasted radishes as the texture will change too much once thawed.
                        • Reheat: If you want to reheat your radishes, add them to the air fryer for 2-3 minutes, shaking halfway.
